History & progress of social network

annyeonghaseyo chingudeul I'm back ^^ , today I will tell you about history & progress of social network.
check this out ..

The internet has given us the ability to connect with people around the world with a fews clicks of a button, making it easier than ever to keep in touch with our friends and family. Because of that, social networking is the biggest industry of our time, but it wasn't always that way.
In 1971 the first email is sent (the two computers were sitting, right next to eachother)-.

But social networking began in 1978 with the Bulletin Board System (BBS). The BBS was hosted on personal computers, requiring that users dial in through the modem of the host computer, exchanging information over phone lines with other users. This was the first system that allowed users to sign in and interact with each other, although it was quite slow since only one user could be logged in at a time.
Later in the year, the first copies of early web browsers are distributed through Usenet, an early online bulletin board, birthplace of flame wars & trolling. Usenet was created ny Jim Elis and Tom Trusscot, and it allowed users to post news articles or posts, which were referred to as "news". The difference between Usenet and other BBS and forums was that it didn't have a dedicated administrator or central server. There are modern forums that use the same idea as Usenet today, including Xahoo! Groups and Google Groups.
The fisrt version of instant messaging came about in 1998 with Internet Relay Chat (IRC). IRC was Unix-based, limmiting access to most people. It was used for link and file sharing, and generally keeping in touch with one another.

Geocities was among the first social networking sites on the internet, laaunching its wabsite in 1994. The concept was for users to create their own websites, categorized by one of six 'cities' known for certain characteristic (Hollywood, Wallstreet, etc).

In 1995 TheGlobe.com gave users the freedom to personalize their online experiences by publishing thdir own content and interacting with others with similiar interests. TheGlobe.com post a record IPO that fell from $850 million to barely $4 million in less than three years.

Two years later, in 1997, AOL Instant Messenger and SixDegress.com are launched. This was the year instant messaging became popular and it was the first time internet users were able to create a profile and friend each other.
In 2000 fueled for years by the growing internet, including early by social networking sites the '.com' buble bursts, sending the stock market crashing and web entrepeneurs back to the drawing boards.

In 2002 Friendster is launched pioneering the online connection of real-world friends. It's user base-grows to 3 million in the first three months. About 1 in every 126 internet users at the time. Friendster found succes in Asia where it currently finds 90% of it's traffic.

In 2003 Myspace is launched, first conceived as a friendster clone. Created by an internet marketing firm, the first version was hastily coded in 10 days.

In the following years, many other social networking sites launch. Among them, Tribet.net, Linkedin, Classmates.com, Jaiku, Netlog, etc.

In 2004 Facebook is launched, originally as a way of connecting U.S college students. First launched at Harvard College, more than half of the 19.500 students signed up within the first month.

In 2006 Twitter is launched. At the close of the 2010 Japan vs Denmark world cup soccer game, twitter users published 3.283 tweets per second.

And the last is in 2008 Facebook overtakes Myspace as the leading social networking site, in monthly unique visitors. Both sites are vastly more popular than the original, Friendster.
